Completed at least 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of accounting including at least 24 semester or 36 quarter hours at the upper division. You are able to apply for one or more sections of the examination at a time; however, you are advised to only apply for a section of the examination if you are ready to take it within the next six months. Provisional admission requires that the applicant maintain a 3.0 GPA for the first nine hours of graduate credit or the applicant will be dismissed from the program.
Students who earn an accounting degree online in Tennessee receive the same curriculum and instruction as on-site learners. Online study accommodates students working full time, raising a family, and/or seeking a career change with a second-degree accounting program. Students also have the option of not choosing a specialization, providing the most customization. Regardless of the concentration selected, the program will take around two years to complete. There are prerequisites needed in order to get into the program, including Concepts in Economics, Business Statistics, Legal Environment of Business, and Accounting. Other needs for admission include holding a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with at least a 2.7 minimum GPA (or 3.0 GPA over the last two years) and GRE or GMAT scores. This latter need can be waived for those that graduated with a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have at least five years of professional experience.
